Widespread Blizzard slammed the northeastern United States on the heavily traveled Christmas weekend Sunday, canceling more than 1,500 flights, shutting the Amtrak passenger rail and challenging motorists on icy roads.
Thursday was the most dramatic day in the history of Romania's parliament. Television engineer Adrian Sobaru jumped from a balcony protesting against austerity measures. Adrian Sobaru, the father-of-two wore a t-shirt saying “You killed our children’s future.” Sobaru was not seriously injured. As emergency medical workers took him out on a stretcher, Sobaru shouted "Freedom!"
