Good idea to back away...if the ground is damp electricity can travel quite a distance. A co-worker knocked down some wires and started a small fir, the fire dept. got there in a couple of minutes but they stayed 40 feet away from the down wires till pg+e got there to turn the power off. In dry July, they said current could travel almost 30ft. even through dry soil.
