Farmer Carlos Bayona tosses a big pot of "Culonas" ants while cooking them in Socorro May 20, 2009. Every year during the April-June season thousands of Colombian farmers and inhabitants of Santander province collect ants (Atta Laevigata) as part of a traditional ritual in the region. The ants, named ulonas for their big size, are cooked and sold as exotic, specialized food.

Two British men have been arrested in France after customs officers found a record 684kg (1,507lbs) of cocaine inside their lorry, officials say. The haul, estimated to be worth 27m euros (£24m), was discovered during a routine check on the A9 motorway near the city of Montpellier on Wednesday. The two men had driven from Spain and were heading to London via Calais. On Friday, Budget Minister Eric Woerth called the biggest ever seizure of cocaine on mainland France "historic". The regional customs directorate in Montpellier said its officers had become suspicious because the lorry was being driven erratically. A scanner then revealed the presence of "abnormal merchandise" - drugs - which was found inside sealed plastic bags and tubs beneath bags of soil, it added. Coffee beans had also been placed inside the vehicle to confuse sniffer dogs. Both of the arrested men deny all knowledge of the illegal cargo.

The North Yungas Road is a 61 to 69 km road leading from La Paz to Coroico, 56 km (35 miles) northeast of La Paz in the Yungas region of Bolivia. It is legendary for its extreme danger and in 1995 the Inter-American Development Bank christened it as the "world's most dangerous road". One estimate is that 200-300 travelers were killed yearly along the road. The road includes crosses marking many of the spots where such vehicles have fallen. Would you take the risk to go there?
