I found out this happens all the time when someone steals your credit card info. The thief orders goods using your card but is smart enough not to use their own address. So they pick the address of someone they know to be gone during the day and have the stolen goods delivered there and just show up at their leisure and pick up the package off the porch. This was the reason the police gave me as to why they wouldn't go to the delivery address to investigate when someone stole my credit card numbers and went on a shopping spree.
