Pretty sure you're supposed to give a warning before you taser someone.

Pretty sure it's not the best idea to roll out of your vehicle and start walking at a cop all pissed off. The way he hopped out of the car and swung his hand forward, I'm surprised in this day and age that the cop didn't assume he had a gun and shoot him with with his sidearm and not just a taser.
Not saying the cop was right, just calling the other guy a bit of a moron.

You may want to check the video again. Imagine you're the officer. You pull up to an intersection behind a vehicle with its door open. Is the person having car trouble? Has there been an accident? Are there injuries? Is the vehicle abandoned? You have no idea.
That is, until the driver suddenly leaps out of the vehicle, turns to confront you, rapidly raises his arm to shoulder level, pointing at you with a threatening gesture, makes a statement or question of some kind in a loud, aggressive voice, then walks towards you at a fast pace while swiftly taking off his sunglasses as if readying for a fight, escalating his voice to ask "why you have your god damn lights on", and all the while continuing his confrontational posture, both physically and verbally.
Was it unreasonable for the officer to have his lights on? No. Did the driver behave irrationally, and seem as if he were about to become violent? Yes.
The vehicle egress happened at 0:24. From 0:27 to 0:29 the officer called for backup. By 0:32, just 3 seconds later, the driver was within 6-8 feet, and was tased at 0:33.
The freakin retard is lucky to be alive. Had the officer not been carrying a taser, he would have been fully justified in discharging his firearm at this stupid son of a bitch.

Cops aren't paid to fight fair; they're paid to win.

So you're telling me that there was absolutely no opportunity to say "Halt, or I'll tase you!"? Utter BS. US Cops seem to have decided to go immediately for their weapon and discharge it in any situation where there is the slightest provocation. This man is just lucky that the officer grabbed a taser and not a glock.
Maybe you should watch the video posted just a few days ago of a guy actually coming at and threatening two British police officers with a knife. In that situation they were definitely at risk of actual bodily harm, yet they still managed to subdue him without resorting to any form of firearm. Weird huh?

Not really, British Police don't carry firearms. They were very lucky not to be seriously injured.
As for your earlier statement, no Police do not have to give a warning, if there is no time and it is not practicable, the old guy was far to close, and still walking towards the officer.

There were another case in Russia where some (probably drunk) man tried to hit a officer with a shovel and became highly aggressive, yet the officer managed to contain the situation without any sort of weapon.

Absolutely wrong. Not sure if you did not read my comment or just did not understand. The officer did not have the chance, based on the timeline, to prevent this idiot from approaching to within an unsafe distance. Once that barrier is breached, the officer had the authority, not to mention the responsibility, to take action without warning.

Agreed. And like I said in my earlier comment, those British police could very easily have been killed. Prudence demands they protect themselves, even if it means inflicting bodily harm on the attacker. They're lucky to be alive. And had it not been for the video they took, that lunatic scum bag would have most likely gotten off with a slap on the wrist. Is that the kind of psycho we want living next to our children? Our families? Our friends?

Wtf? Why?
Good luck finding an answer, as human stupidity is both ubiquitous and enigmatic. Throw in narcissism, selfishness, ignorance, and a host of behavioral and psychosomatic disorders, including paranoia, schizophrenia, psychosis, poor anger management, poor coping skills, poor comprehension skills, and many, many, many more, and it just may mean the end of our species.
Well I can dream, can't I?
