The atmosphere is part of the earth too. For this bufoons theory to work, the atmosphere would have to stay still as the earth rotated. Meaning anything stationary on the planet, this good cleric included would be buffetted by 1675 km/h or 465 meters/second, 1,040 miles/hour winds!
