My theory is this. Sony said they wont release the film. There'll be a media outcry. Give it six months, they'll release it to a media storm and blockbuster takings for a mediocre comedy. Sony run off laughing and counting their pennies.

My theory is, that the NSA is searching a new reason to legitimate its spyprogramm. Quote Gingrich:
" it wasn't the hackers who won, it was the terrorists and almost certainly the North Korean dictatorship, this was an act of war"

by NOT releasing the film, it is automatically going to be a cult classic, selling billions via DVD and underground sales...everyone will want a copy to see what all of the uproar is over. This seems like a marketing stunt....

sony is getting all this interest......they did it (or it never happened) Team America didn't seem to piss off his father, so....The US is probably not that important in NK, it's OUR government that tells us all we know about them. :05:

UPDATE TO THE SITUATION:
North Korea has proposed a joint investigation with the United States on the cyber attack against Sony Pictures, calling the charge by the FBI that it was behind the attack "slander", state media said today. - RTE News Ireland
So it seems North Korea isnt to blame, but somebody thought it would be the perfect scapegoat (which it could have been). Either the Sony executives have a few secrets to hide or someone wanted to stir up some trouble for NK. Theres no way NK did the attack if they propose a joint investigation.
Infact, this could cast doubt over a lot of the nasy things we heard about NK.....

Although I'd not put the Americans past doing ANYTHING, I think that in this case it's a ploy by NK. By sharing an investigation, they'd have to be shown exactly how America tracked people on the web and could therefore avoid being traced in future.
