Wow! It must be fantastic to have such a feeling of power over the man! Just think You sure showed that cop where you stand in having a complete and unassailable stand on your constitutional rights! Right up to the point where he clearly stated that driving is a privilege, not a right! Did we forget that on the back of most, if not all licenses, it says "To be surrendered to a peace officer upon request" Now all you've done is make yourself look like the douche you are in being a confrontational ass to someone doing their job. I hope you wind up in a collision (non serious) with someone who doesn't possess a license or insurance. Lets see how your constitutional rights help you then. Asshole!! :41: :41: :41: :41: :41: :41:

Yep, I will agree with the first commenter,
in this case the cops were perfectly calm
and this douche clearly has issues of insecurity.
This guy is the reason cops are preocupied towards drivers.
God knows what jerk is the driver you're pulling aside.

So....lesson learned
- When pulled over, no need to chat, but no need to confront the cops either.
- Do as asked, nothing more, nothing less.
- Be polite (as we all supposed to be to other people, not just cops) and....
- When it's dark, turn on the internal lights, it makes cops a lot more comfortable
about what they're gonna face.
They think like...."he turned on his internal lights so he's got nothing to hide"
That last one happened to a friend once.

zach8, "The cops were perfectly calm"?? WUT? Were we watching the same video?
I don't know where you're from but my DL doesn't say anything about "To be surrendered to a peace officer upon request" This isn't Nazi occupied Germany.
The driver was right, cops do not have the authority to do this unless they have probable cause. They rely on intimidation and ignorance of the citizens. They perform illegal searches all the time by bullying and lying. Cops are allowed to lie to you to try to get you to confess something. The next time you're pulled over and asked "do you know how fast you were going"? He is asking you to incriminate yourself.
I myself have never done this :02: I don't want to be the one who was tazed, but I applaud anyone who has the guts to do this. :04:

You can exercise your right, there's no need to be a dick about it. The cop lost it so he must have had issues of his own but ultimately he was just doing his job.

why does it seem that so many americans are so confrontational against the police?

It looks like the police were conducting safety checks on vehicles to see whose car is unsafe to drive on the roads! is that so wrong? would you want someone with bald tyres driving behind you in the wet and unable to stop and slam into the rear of your car giving you neck and spinal injuries that you might never recover from?

Lets break down the facts. As a Citizen of The United States, This man was well within his RIGHTS to question the officers as to why he was being pulled over, When the officer answered that they were doing, He then asked if he was being detained or if he was free to go, All the officer had to do was simply state that they needed to verify he had a valid drivers license and inc card. Instead, the other officer decided to do was escalate the situation for no reason other than having his "Authority" challenged, at least in his mind. The officer should have handled this situation in a calm and non threatening manner, Which is exactly what they are trained to do. Or at least you'd think they we're trained to do. This man broke no laws, Ripping open his door like that is a violation of his 4th amendment rights.

4th amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

"The Fourth Amendment originally enforced the notion that
