those old machines ruled. the new ones are more efficient.

Those machines weren't even slightly evenly matched. The steam traction engine had weight, and also tyre advantages. Another thing that gave it an advantage is the way the connecting strap was attached. It had the effect of lifting the back of the other tractor up, lowering it's potential for gaining traction.

Still, the power of a heavy steam engine is impressive none the less.
