1: That was a meteor, not an asteroid. If it was an asteroid we wouldnt be on acidcow at the moment. (big difference)
2: That was most definetly not intercepted by a missile. Spectacular as it is a meteor would travel many times faster than any missile on eath. The 'explosion' was it burning up in the atmosphere. (there would also be a smoke trail of the missile, which isnt there)
