If it was manual it wouldn't have gone half this fast, therefore the accident would not have been as bad. Don't understand people and countries who choose automatic over manual. Learn to drive.

This only means there was an accident before the accident, something happened to the driver and the voice is from the passenger who didn't know how to stop the car. In a car malfunction situation there's always the brakes and the clutch in manual.

nope Tribs
a passenger couldn't maneuver as good as that without maybe ANOTHER steering wheel at his/her lap. see how the car avoiding through traffics before it reached nowhere else and hit the car in front? that was purely a desperate attempt by the driver.
car malfunction for me...

I had this happen to me once. I left my oil cap on the intake manifold, and when I took off, it rolled back under the throttle linkage and stuck it wide open.
I turned off the ignition. No big deal.

newer cars do not have a traditional 'keyed' ignition switch ... it's wireless
and in a key fob. All you need to do is have the fob (key) inside the vehicle
in a certain proximity to the switch and then press a start button.
One big problem. In order to shut the car 'off' , it must be stopped and placed
in park or neutral and then press the start/stop button. Also, the gear selector is an electronic switch as well. There is NO WAY to physically disconnect or shut down.
It's All fly-by-wire. It's all just inputs to a microprocessor, and it does the
electromechanical (physical) shut down for you. A 'glitch' in the software and ....
must have been a horrifying, sickening experience ... hope their not too badly hurt.

Why is this person not breaking? Brake is a physical friction, it always wins over the accelerator. Plus, where's the handbrake? If the accelerator gets stuck just use your instinct: break!!!!

@morrel2 I drive a automatic not for a special reason.. took the car of my dad, believe me if i say once you go there you never go back, it`s so relaxt.. hit a traffic jam or go into a bussy citty and count the times you press the clutch pedal ;-) (and no shift moment so i`m fastest at traffic lights most of the time
OT: i aggree on the fact that pressing the brakes wil win from the acceleration and listning to the sound he did not use it..and even if it is a Automatic and your engin revs up..switch it to neutral..it wil ruin your engine but that`s a better option then crashing imo
