1st yr. I worked in the oil fields near/on the Beaufort sea (northern Alaska)
I would hear these same kind of noises from time to time. I thought "whales?"
The old timers had convinced me it was Russian submarines passing under the icepack. I was very much a greenhorn at the time.
Now I know it's normal, especially with the tides.
