gari, Why not? Wrong place, wrong time, very bad luck. Lightning does strike twice at the same place. 02

Fake.

1) A bolt of lighting will make contact to the tallest object (with in 45 degrees). The guy was walking beside a van, trees, not to mention the building holding the 'security camera'

2) If you pull the video from other websites where you can pause it and still see the picture, you will see that the lightning does not cast shadows from the vehicles nor does it over power the shadows of the street light.

3) No way he would get up from that without at least having visible damage.

2fuzzy,
Also, the passing vehicles have headlights on which suggest it's night or dusk at best. The camera would be compensating for the lack light, so the intense light emitted by a lightning strike would have over exposed the entire frame.

Lightning doesn't follow the shortest path ie. tall buildings, it follows the path of least resistance. If the guy was wearing a faraday cage, it's conceivable discharge would bypass trees, buildings and vehicles, opting for the cage having the least resistance.

Still... it's a poor fake.

agentsoforange,

I do understand the path of least resistance, however I was trying to keep the explanation kind of simple and not get into resistance of the different objects when compared to humid air.

another point to prove it is a fake: The bolt should have been close enough to screw up the camera's electronics for a split second due to the EM it would have been giving off.
