Kitchy and maudlin. Half a step away from clowns, Elvis on velvet and little kids with big eyes under lamposts. A waste of pencil, photo or shop.

Randy Hann's pencil realism is very good. As someone said some of them look like over exposed photos, and I think just a touch more expression in the faces would turn around some of the negative reviews. Some photos are so beautiful to draw closely and bring out the life they capture. Of course it is best when the artist takes his own reference photos and even better when you draw from life. People often say similar things about my art that I'm just good at the basics of hand eye coordination and have a great eye but need to add my style, but I so admire beauty in nature and fullheartedly agree with Michelangelo's quote "Good art is nothing but a copy of the perfections of God," although he used his imagination and memory from decades of figure studies.
