Amazing pictures.
There is more than a bird and spider that are not insects, there is a scorpion too, an arachnid.

'K. This is NOT only why I sic my pets on "MONSTERS"; rewash pre-washed bagged salads; love to eat lobster but do so with my index fingers in my ears while audibly humming "Puff, the Magic Dragon"; seal every fucking crevice in my crap apt. (enney one ever see a SUPER-radioactive gazillipede that grows up to 5" and escapes faster than a friggin' FELON?) and, since I have, in the past, given leetle-teeny-weeny harmless monarch larva in enclosed habitats to family and friends so they can watch firsthand the amazing transformations and then aforesaid family thought I'd be THRILLED with a gift of the (iih!) mantis version of ANT Farms and --- please!!!! I'm selling this monster kit cheep, and why are humans amenable to ladybugs, butterflies, and fireflies? AND, why don't we see more fireflies in Upstate NY (even w the return of big, black crows, assuming the birds' resurgence may be attributed to DDT working its way down the fud chain and into our aquifers but) ---- WHERE are the lightning bu -- um, FIREFLIES????
I'll trade my puke-me-mantis-orphanage-surro
gate hatching "toy" for cute lil monsters that are not MONFUCKINSTROSITIES. (Key: read above. In case you have trouble seeing blatant hints soaring at high altitudes/ speeds.) Got a light???
Oh -- any of u out there ever see a snakerpillar? They are cool.

Awesome Photos! Mostly if not all Studio work.. Probably un-retouched
My fave = The Yellow w/black spots and black spiked Jumping Spider (or is it a crab spider?)
WOW!
BTW, where does he get all of the insects? He seems to prefer the Praying Mantis..
very awesome..

The photo about eighteen images in looks an awful lot like my former mother-in-law.

Nice pictures.
Some of them aren't insects, though.

Skye
,
immature people trying to learn about life by 'using' 4chan (and pretending it's fun) must be one of the scariest things imaginable. lets hope they stay in their parents' basements forever and don't go out and infest the real world.
the images are extremely good. anyone who could see these and still spout 'DDT' has something wrong with them.

You see these gorgeous photographs and some of you are debating whether the grasshoppers are getting busy or not??!! I'm a professional entomologist, so let me me set the record straight: they ARE NOT actually doing anything except sitting there in the picture. The back end of the male (on top) is way too far away from the tip of the abdomen of the female (on bottom) for there to be any sperm transfer happening. They may be about to start or just finished, but they're NOT doing anything in the photo. The beetles several images below the grasshoppers on the other hand...
I think the pictures are absolutely stunning and I'm happy I had a chance to see them.

Igor, your splendid work leaves me astonished. I'm curious where & how you accessed such a stunning variety of insects, including the preemie chick hatchling. "Amazing" is a much overused word, but your close-ups of these most-unusual-to-me creatures is truly amazing. Thank you Acid Cow & thank you Crazy Igor.
