I like so much these photos, my favorite was one in which you can see an american soldiers in front of a German one, the way they look each other, just to mention that the american one seems like forrest gump.

I absolutely love the concept of this. The great wars should be remembered and we must remember those who fought for us.
These pictures are reality (not tv) and it helps those of the younger generations to appreciate the devastation of war.

Very touching and intriguing to see the before and after's. Some of it was devastated and had to be rebuilt, and some not so much. It always amazes me when things like church steeples did not get hit and remain to this day.

I agree that this should be all put in a book.

For some reason I find the old black and white pictures of the damaged building even more beautiful than the new ones of the restored, not sure why.

Great Photo's, fantastic research from the photographer, makes very interesting viewing. Must of taken a lot of time and patience to match all those locations.

Also great testament to the residents of Normandy, that they rebuilt everything rather than just pulling down what are ruins and building new different homes, shops and churches. They returned the area to how it was before the war.

Great reminder of what was an awful time for mankind

I have visited Normandy twice and will go again. it is truly amazing the way they have rebuit the area to appear as it was prior to WWII. The cemetery is one of the most beautiful places on earth and the fallen heros resting there and what they accomplished together must never be forgotten.

Boy oh boy the arrogance and derisiveness of Americans. We were so arrogant - we assumed the French didn't want to learn German; and we were so derisive we fought like hell to kick the Germans out of France before most of them could finish learning Ze Deutsch!
All hail the Chosen One - King Hussein Obama! He is so smart!

Agree with all comments that these are exceptional photos put together with painstaking effort by a talented person that has shown his appreciation of an historic era in world history without politicising it. Great Job. As a side issue...for those folks who wondered about the close attention to detail during the reconstruction of buildings in Europe; I just returned from a trip to Europe and was informed by tour guide personnel that most reconstruction of old WWII buildings is done under close scrutiny of the governing authorities and exteriors must be reproduced under exacting conditions to hold the appearance to the original building---however, the interiors are quite modern and can be gutted and rebuilt to the owners specifications.

Astonishing and wonderful. All of those beautiful buildings would have been demolished in the U.S.
