It may have been a rescue. You see this sort of thing with neglected animals frequently — haven't been groomed in any way for years until finally put in the hands of a group or someone who cleans them up. (And yeah, every type of farm animal you can think of winds up in rescue.)

This happened in the autumn of 2015
