This guy's not only a drooling idiot, he's also an arrogant pr!ck. Does he actually think he's smarter and better able to be trained in firearms than teachers, all of whom have a minimum of 4-year college degrees? Does he actually think it's LESS traumatic for teachers to stand by helplessly and watch their students being slaughtered like fish in a barrel?
Just because he's a veteran, that doesn't mean he's the least bit qualified tocomment on school safety. This retarded screed just proved he isn't.

"If you don't understand why this is a problem, then you're very likely unqualified to be in this conversation in the first place."
The idea of arming school teachers is heinous and deplorable. Degenerate Republicans began de-funding public education years ago in the push to fund religious schools through vouchers. Many schools struggle just to keep a warm body leading the class, never mind training teachers to be the first line of defense against a lunatic with a high-powered, mass killing weapon.
Our government, of course, has always lied to and deceived the American public, but this government, and in particular this president, are reinventing the art of deception. And retards like you, OldOllie, have not only taken the bait, but you've been caught, stuffed, and mounted, a trophy fish to be displayed as both a representation of the stupidity of humans and a warning to others who might follow in your footsteps.

understanding 'target acquisition' and 'field of fire' is a key skill and possessing non-lethal take-down skills would be useful to keep the innocent safe....but plain ol' good judgment would be a top requirement.

You're talking about asking normal, average citizens not only to perform their already onerous work load of teaching our children and essentially being a part-time parent to them, but now they need to learn military combat skills and make judgment calls on which child to protect, which to kill, and even possibly which to sacrifice so that others may live?
This is an exquisitely perfect absurdity. I find it difficult to imagine a more horrid and repugnant idea.
Gun violence needs to be addressed at its numerous sources, beginning with the NRA bullying political representatives into keeping sensible gun control laws off the books, to the gun manufacturers flooding the market with weapons designed not only for self defense but for rapid-fire killing, and continuing in the most direct route possible to people who purchase and stockpile these weapons.
Having teachers confront deadly killers is like fighting a fire by standing at the hydrant and letting loose the hose.

It's fun to build strawmen against the idea but the simple fact is this: short of a machine gun, a single person with a gun in a crowd of people wouldn't be able to harm that many IF OUR ETHOS WAS ABOUT ATTACKING, NOT FLEEING. Yes, he would be able to kill some but numbers are quickly overwhelming and they would hopefully tear him agonizingly apart.
Every actual soldier understands that even in a terrifying situation, the LAST POSSIBLE choice is to flee: you are far more vulnerable, and since you're no longer a threat your enemy can do anything they want with impunity. Killing you is EASIER when you flee.
Yet...our entire society is about running away. Hoping "someone" will come "save us".
Stop being sheep. Understand that if everyone attacks, yes, you may give your life but it's the best chance for the largest number.
And this dipsh*t seems to not realize the point of teachers being armed isn't to gunfight the attackers. No, you're right, they'll suck at it. But an attacker would HAVE to calculate that the adults will be armed, and thus SHOOT THEM FIRST, meaning every potentially-armed-adult buys the kids a few more precious seconds to escape.
The point of teachers+guns is bullet sponges to buy the kids time. Any adult responsible for children should understand and be happy with that.

Spoken like a true lunatic, devoid of empathy; a raging, testosterone-laden freak. You, sir, and people exactly like you, are a huge part of the problem.
It's ideas like this that would lead to the entire world's population carrying weapons at all times, not only halting all the progress we've made over the past hundred or so years, but turning back time and having humans devolve into automatons, soldiers without thought, wild animals reduced to a kill-or-be-killed mentality.
We can only hope that your psychotic delusions will most likely not spread their infections to the rest of the thinking population, and that you will not get to live out your death wishes, or visit them upon the rest of us.
