Bad friends. You shouldn't talk someone into doing something they do not understand. I hope her friends get charged with coercion. Everyone should have the right to choose to own a gun in this country. Not everyone can handle the responsibilities of ownership. Personally, I choose to NOT own a gun. I suffer from extreme bouts of deep depression and I'm worried I'd kill myself. Totally my choice. I don't think anyone has the authority to deny me that choice.

BTW, I am a 'right' minded republican and a card carrying member of the NRA. I am Pro Gun Rights. This girl just wasn't ready for gun ownership.

I wish people would stop conflating gun ownership with "the right" etc. We can't have any productive discussions about this until we decamp and look at the issues individually.

If I had a gun there would be a lot of dead people on the road.
