The area still looks great, but it has pretty much nothing in common with these pictures nowadays.
What's shown above is a touristic part of Istanbul, Turkey now; and most of the historic buildings don't exist anymore; for example Saint Sophia (#4) has become a mosque, the hippodrome (later named Horse Square) is gone but is remembered with its name. Also new buildings and mosques are built in the area after the Constantinople era, it's worth seeing, it still is amazing.
