This cottage belongs to Michael and Gillian Walsh and they've been trying to sell it for a year. They dropped the price to a very low number but still people weren't interested after looking at pictures of the inside.

1. Not a cottage.
2. 1p? I'd buy in a heartbeat. Who cares what the inside looks like, it's not like the furniture comes with the house (usually anyway), and even if it did you could just throw it away.

Reading that article, that's in the town I grew up in. Wow. So, I can say with some certainty that 'a penny' isn't just an expression, more like BS here as 1p isn't mentioned anywhere else. Looks like they had it for sale for £350,000, then dropped to £300,000. Doesn't look like it was sold however - the house was for sale in late 2013 and there is no record of any sale.
