Stupidity, fear, ignorance and arrogance are tied for 2nd as the top criteria for human retardation. Religion is first, being both a cause and effect of the others.
Each is a corollary of ignorance; without it we would have no fear, no stupidity, no arrogance, and certainly no religion.
Natural selection will always win. We will be as different 500 million years from today as we are today from the organisms we were 3 billion years ago: bacteria.
