The underground town in the Australian desert has become home to 3,500 people who come from 45 different nationalities. A few more facts to fill in the why it was built. It is next to the worlds largest underground opal mine. The underground town was built by the miners as a place to live and stay out of the heat. It is located 526 miles or 846 km north of Adelaide on the Stuart Highway.
