When this man applied for a job at Lowe's, the company decided to hire him and his dog as a package deal.
Clay Luthy, a disabled veteran who needs his service dog around was having problems to find a job. But he and his pooch Charlotte are now employed at Lowe’s in Abilene, Texas. Luthy’s story starts just after the attacks on the World Trade Center that affected him profoundly.

He joined the Air Force in January 2002 and after the training he became a loadmaster and transported cargo all over the world, including Afghanistan and Iraq. But his life has changed drastically after both of his knees were injured and he had to undergo five knee surgeries over four years. Because of it, he couldn’t re-enlisted in the army anymore and is now considered disabled.

Then Clay was working for 6 years as a handyman until one of his knees was rebuilt after what he couldn’t kneel anymore. That’s when he needed a career change. His wife suggested him try out Lowe’s, “…you’re there every day. You might as well get paid for it.” His dog is working alongside him and is there for “medical alert and mobility” but she also brings joy to the customers.
