In February 2016 holders of an Australian passport can visit 169 countries and territories visa-free or with visa on arrival, and Australia is currently ranked 8th in terms of travel freedom, ranked behind Greece and New Zealand (7th placing, 171 countries) but above Malta (9th placing, 168 countries)
