I had my girlfriends dog, a Sheltie, die in my arms. It was heart breaking to feel it's
little body convulse and then ... nothing.

Damn You AC !! ....... this really hit me right in the feels.

Worst decision ever.
I held my dog as they put her to sleep, and couldn't stop bawling.
What I realized was that probably made it worse for her - she KNEW I was upset and sad, and it probably hurt her too.

In the future, I tell everyone just take your dog to the vet, and drop it off as if it was getting a haircut. No, you won't "be there" but you're saving your dog some stress because it will just go to sleep, no fear.
