Fast lanes in the US are a joke anyhow. To have a fast lane roads should only merge on the outside lane. Once you have traffic merging on the inside lane it entirely defeats the purpose of having a fast lane.

American "fast" lane is where you go 91km/h instead of 89 to stay under the 90km/h limit.
