Some high school students in Florida decided to give some senior citizens another chance at prom. They put everything together so that these elderly folks could have a good time and the event received rave reviews from everyone that attended.
If you’re lucky enough you’ll get another chance at it one day like the residents of The Palace Nursing & Rehab Center in Florida did thanks to the high school students of TERRA Environmental Research Institute.

On April 21st, the senior citizens of the center got to relive their glory days with their very own “senior” prom, which was put on by the student government of the high school… and it looks like they had a blast.

Debbit Horvitz, activity director of the nursing home, said “It was unbelievable. We had such a great time. We had a tie for [prom] queen and we had a king. One of the queens and kings were holding hands for the rest of the prom. The kids did a great job.”

One of the prom attendees was 101-year-old Eleanor Bessin, who is the oldest person in the home. She still carries the photo of her original prom date. “She attended the prom with a boy she thought he was going to marry,” Horvitz said of Bessin. “He developed cancer and died a short time after the war. She’s had some heartache but [was] looking forward to [the prom]. She’s very outgoing.”

The idea came to the students while they were planning their own prom, and I think it’s safe to say it was a great one. I’d hang out with these prom partiers anytime. The super-considerate high-schoolers can come too. They’re obviously a great group of kids.
