During President Obama's recent visit to Cuba he urged President Raul Castro to close Guantanamo Bay for good. He said that the relationship between the US and Cuba will only be able to work properly if the prison is closed. However Castro has denounced the request saying that the US has double standards. Inside the walls of Guantanamo Bay things look just as bleak as they ever have.

I think the -7 has to do with the utter failure of the AC summary.
"During President Obama's recent visit to Cuba he urged President Raul Castro to close Guantanamo Bay for good."
Castro isn't running "Guantanamo Bay" it's the US running Guantanamo, not the Cubans.

"He said that the relationship between the US and Cuba will only be able to work properly if the prison is closed."
So Castro said this to Obama?

"However Castro has denounced the request saying that the US has double standards. Inside the walls of Guantanamo Bay things look just as bleak as they ever have."
Huh?

Those are some pretty decent conditions, for a prison.

I wonder how well received Radical Islam would be in Cuba?
I wonder how long that "Double Standard" decree would hold up?

The description of this post doesn't even make sense. Obama wouldn't ask Castro to close Gitmo. He couldn't if he wanted to. It's a US base! If anything, it would be the other way around.

About one third of those released from Gitmo have gone back to terrorism, and the ones still there are the worst of the worst, i.e., they're much more likely to return to terrorism than those we've already released.

As far as I'm concerned, they're not worth the risk. According to the Geneva Conventions, since they're all unlawful enemy combatants, we could legally line them all up and shoot them. That sounds like a plan to me.

You are right with the fact castro cant close it, its operated by the US.

However, remember that most of the people released are sent to afganistan or pakistan. They were treated worse than livestock and tourtured. And now they are in a country occupied and/or bombed by the US. You tell me what you would do after that....

Also it states 30% 'rejoin the fight' rather than 'go back to terrorism'. Meaning they are not killing civillians but attacking the military, which by all definitions is not terrorism.

Also, if 70% dont go back to the fight, is it fair to blame them for what the minority does?
