I was having a conversation on the same theme with one of my friends (who is a girl) about my struggles with respecting feminism, women empowering and having a stable girlfriend. Having been bullied for being more emotional than physical as a kid and maturing in a society where women ask for something they don't really want (equal pay and everything else as such is, of course, a noble pursue that I support) I grew up slightly conflicted.

Looking back to the success I had with relationships in which I took control - from choosing where to have drinks to manhandling her in a sexual, non-violent way - and the ones where I tried to keep a balance on the amount of choices we make as a pair, I found that the first option works best.

I was just not attractive enough, not impulsive enough and not MAN enough for a woman (with all her primitive triggers) to be with me for longer periods when opting for the second option. Being a man on the other hand, made ME feel better about myself and girls where excited, agreeing and wetter.

It is now an important task to strike a balance. Or just find a woman who truly knows what she wants.

Beating children was far more prevalent back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's and it was women and men who "shared his struggle" that changed that. Gays are also far more accepted than they were even 20 years ago.
