Nola, one of the last four living northern white rhinos died Sunday at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. She died due to a bacterial infection and age related complications. Now that she's gone only three northern white rhinos remain on the planet.

there's nothing like good balance, so it's nice that we humans can find time in between killing each other, to help kill off the animals off too. On average 200 to 2000 species die out every year, it is estimated that without human intervention, that figure would be 1000 times lower. The year we become extinct, the animals that remain will breathe a huge sigh of relief.

you would think that we could breed them back into some kind of population? We can do genetic splicing on humans, but cannot get a rhino to breed....really?
