Edison was an asshole. And he didn't "invent" much of anything. He was a businessman. He hired inventors, patented whatever they built and paid them sh*t. If they fought against him, he did everything he could to destroy their careers.

Look at what he did with Tesla. He hated AC power so much, he went on tours killing elephants with AC power to scare people away from using it and using his DC power instead. f*cking psychopath.
