I'm not particularly a fan of Richard Nixon, but I really question this one. How would sabotaging peace talks help his re-election chances? If the people wanted peace and he prevented it, that would presumably hurt his re-election chances. If the people wanted to continue the war and so he refused to make peace, than he was carrying out the will of the people, which is what elected officials are presumably supposed to do. If he refused to sign a treaty that he considered a bad treaty for whatever reason, than he's not "sabotaging" anything, he's negotiating. And by the way, he could not have delayed the end of the war from 1968 by 5 years, because the Vietnam War ended in 1975. The U.S. surrendered and pulled out in 1973, but that didn't immediately end the war.
