Im sorry. a 19yo smuggling her 8yo son? I mean, she became a mother at the age of 11? what the f?

I checked a few news sites, and not one claimed that the 19yo was the mother of the kid. In fact one even explicitly said that she wasn't related to him and was just paid money to try and smuggle him across the border.

Yep, heres a quote from the bbc site:
'The Spanish newspaper El Pais reported (in Spanish) that the 19-year-old is not related to the boy, and was paid by his father to carry the suitcase.'

Well the 19 y.o. was probably not African, but more likely a Spanyard or other non-suspicious nationality - that explains everything here.
