They are working on genetically programming trees to grow into certain shapes like houses. Imagine planting a tree and it turns into a house (granted it will take many years to develop this and for the tree to grow).

Those will be the best tree houses ever. Once they perfect that, they can work on getting them to grow bacon-filled fruit.

Well, they are actually also working on a meat house too. Genetically modified meat tissue to grow in the form of a house, with the added benefit of having funtioning doors by using an oversized sphincter (muscles would open and close the door). Problem being that noone would probably want to live in a sphincter house.....
