According to the person interviewing her for the job, Elizabeth had all the right qualifications but he didn't hire her because he didn't like her outfit.

sorry but if you are going to an interview you should look respectable regardless of how other people dress in the office.

Its irespective that you are female, as you said skater skirt, heavy make-up, black t-shirt (a little to booby!!) doesnt sound very professional to me.

Obviously she did not have "all qualifications" -- One that she lacks is the qualification to present herself.

Well, judging by her response they did the right thing for not hiring her. Also, the clothes were probably an excuse as they couldnt get themseves to tell her the truth.

Do not dress to excite, dress to be a professional. She complains that she was not hired due to her attire and that it was a gendered bias but she dressed towards catering towards the bias and then decries the very bias she was dressed for? Would not hire such contradictory mentality to cause instability within a department.

Nah! She's lying! She just got turned down for the job because she dresses like a whore and doesn't have the skillset that the company needed. She obviously thinks VERY highly of herself.
Also, they would have comped the parking - all companies do this for interviews, it's just standard practice. You have to ask, of course. This had to be her first ever tech interview. I bet at the next interview she shows up looking like a librarian and still doesn't get the job.

One's attire is his own business that should never interfere with one's skills. She could come naked and still be hired.

Egbert,
If you apply at hooters or a strip joint then you may actually be better off applying naked. But if you apply for a real job people expect you to look proffessional. Generally people look more professional for an interview than on a daily basis. If she dressed up for the interview and still looked too casual, then her daily dress code would be on par with a slut.

Looking proffessional is important for important jobs. Imagine hillary clinton dressing like a slut while applying for presidency. She would be stoned at her first campaign rally.

If you cant understand that then you arent as smart as you think...

you cannot change the world by breaking down the door, you must gain entrance peacefully and change it from within.

like it or not, there are expected standards of attire and grooming. play the game or go home.

I was also looking forward to seeing a pic (since we're being invited to judge here)

I Googled her name and found this:

If this is her, I don't see anything wrong with her outfit... Probably she wasn't hired because of something else

Mmmm i guess that Elizabeth is missing two important points.
Point 1) It's not the same way that a man dress up to an interview that the way we dress AT work, now I have a game t-shirt and jeans and it's Ok but when I came here for the first time for my interview I dress up with a suit, if you want equality then you should use something like that, if you dress "damn good" you're trying to get a job with your look.
Point 2) If you're "damn good looking" and you TRY to look that way it's distracting for men, that's it... is just distracting and it might make some troubles in a "mostly men's office"...
And for the question "If I had been a man would it have mattered what I was wearing?".... Hell yes... of course it matters, I'm fat I cant look really well dressed because I cant get good clothers that fits me well and yes that matters, it matter because of a lot of stuff, for example... It matters because I cant look good in a suit for any clients that the company might have, it matters because everybody is too damn superficial... So you look damn good and get that treatment and you dont even know how you get treated when you CANT look good... Of course there is a difference between well dressed and "dressed to kill" have that in mind too.

Sorry if I have something not so well expressed, I'm ESL

I remember my first job interview. The person who interviewed me complimented my outfit and later that day I got the phone call saying that I got the job.

I think I doesn't matter how capable you are if you don't dress to get the job you want. You want a professional job? dess as a professional. You want to dress sloppy? Go apply somewhere else.

Even McDonald's has a dressing code.

Her femaleness freaked him out. That's all there is to it. The only way she could have avoided that was to have dressed as boyishly as possible, and THEN run the risk that she's still "unprofessional" or "childish," regardless of whether it was exactly how every boy in the office dressed.
