Each cat is different and a lot of the cats personality and character can be molded the way each other (cat and human) interact with each other. The more welcomming and friendly you are, the more it is possible that the cat will be dependent on you. Some cats of course don`t give a rats ass about a bond and leave whenever they feel like. A cat is no dog thou - don`t expect a cat to be your best friend in life just because you got one yourself. A dog is happy to see you no matter what. A cat is a domesticated semi-self sufficient animal (meaning that the relationship between human and cat is like having a little kid which you don`t need to wipe its ass after taking a dump and such).

It is a special bond if you get it right :) and if not get some help and/or advise from someone who really knows his way around cats.
