ghost55321,Ya it was blown way out of proportion her in NYC. We had worse snow storms last year where everything stayed open.

i guess if the infrastructure isn't there for even this little snow it still is pretty bad. i live in the alps and this amount of snow here would be laughable - but only because we are prepared. we put salt and gravel on the roads, have a fleet of trucks for snow removal and drive with winter tires ...

I'm in Boston and we've had somewhere around 24" here and it is still snowing hard. NY didn't get nearly what was predicted, and these pictures are ridiculous. We have drifts of over 5' in places.

The whole world is laughing at the Northeast now. To be fair, most of the problem lies with the forecasters who predicted impending doom. All we got was a snowstorm. Shoveled out and it wasn't a big deal.

I thought that people in the northeast were used to snow? Surely they remember last winter? And the 300 before that?

In the south I get the concern over 2" of snow, we don't have snow plows or salt trucks down here.
