well, I don't know how long shrimp will actually smell, but I did actually put a half pound of raw, bait shrimp under the interiour carpet of a managers car once...it destroyed the interior of the car in just a few days (Gulf Coast Mississippi sunshine). The car wasn't considered 'totaled' because the engine was perfect, but the carpet, seats, upholstery, dash all had to be replaced. Shrimp breaks down and putrefies into a sticky, horribly smelly liquid goo. The stink would be pretty bad for several days to a few weeks...it doesn't wash out, even with lemon or tomato juice, the item usually needs to be replaced. Great story, though!
