And it's the same when american people try to put a name on european country !!!

Well,

We know where are the USA in North America, we don't know all your states, there are 50 of them! It's like asking you where are all the areas of each European country like, where is Languedoc-Rousillon in France, where is Bavire in Germany? etc....

When we hear Americans saying that Africa is a country or Spain is just a "region" of Europe, or other things like this, we can't deny the fact that there is a Geographic problem! :p

Even the news channels make big mistakes on TV when they have to place some countries on a map! :)

This is too easy to ask European to name all your 50 states and saying that we are bad in Geography too, try to name and place the countries in the world and after that maybe we would ask you to place ALL the areas of EACH country :p

We are not perfect but if you want to be fair, ask Europeans to place countries in the world, maybe we are bad too! When Europeans say that Americans are bad in Geography they are talking about placing countries on a map, not areas of a country.

Nice try but those states are not comparable to countries. Like the US has 50 states Germany has 16 province, Hungary has 19 plus the capitol, France has 22.
What ever you say the USA is on country since it get its independence you have the same language, money "culture" across the country so don't dare to compare states to countries!

why would I need to know the states of america ? at least I know the place of most countries on a world map, that's what it is about in the first place. you can't make fun of a stranger who doesn't know where you put the toilets in your house. would I mock you if you couldn't name all of 101 france departments ? no, because you're not supposed to know them.

Can you imagine an American naming individual counties(states) for example in UK or Germany?
There is no point for us to know the names of all states.
It is pointless for us and we don't Care.

this is not fair; they were not asking Europeans to find USA but to name their administrative units.
I guess if an average American was to name regions/landes/counties in UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Poland or Romania they would score 0 points. And probably would fail to recognize to country.

Comparing states to countries is a big geographic fail. Whoever wrote the title should learn geography and english before posting again.

Nah, I agree this isn't a fair comparison- nobody should expect one who doesn't live there to identify 50 regions of one country.
