#9 and #10 The British ruling family was the House of Hanover, established by George I. 190 years later, in 1917, George V changed the name to House of Windsor. Apparently the Germans and English were not getting along too well in 1917!

Queen Elizabeth II's lineage is German as was Queen Victoria's!

Thank You Capt for yet another history google search lesson. Just about everyone already knows that Europe's monarchy for centuries have been very much interrelated, as in 'family'. Which is why they did it that way, to keep the power, wealth and control 'in the family'....which also lead to some nasty wars about who should rule what and where.
