The United States of America just celebrated Columbus Day but Christopher Columbus is not the man you think he is. The truth about Christopher Columbus is, he was kind of a jerk.

The generalisation in this is sickening. If columbus started the transatlantic slave trade, then every american caused all the millions who have died in wars by directly financing the military responsible by paying taxes.

Difference between columbus and other discoverers (china also discovered the americas hundreds of years earlier) is that columbus made his discovery worldwide knowledge, and the best way for people to get interested in something, in that time, is gold.

Slaves were common use for more than 5000 years. It was the norm. You cannot fault him for doing something people considered acceptable at the time.

Infact, all those horrors columbus did was more or less the standard for discovering new places. Every country which could, did exploit new and old countries and colonies, and that still happens today.

It was normal for the time, so it's fine that a man was a cruel bastard. Take that.

Thanks Aindy for clearing that up for all.

Direct descendant, are we?

Could be fake as hell... Nowadays every user who learned Photoshop, creates his own history... I cannot trust anyone and prefer trust what I learned in school. At least by that time there was nobody, making profit (views, likes, shares) from giving me that knowledge...
