Dune_king,
yes! and i'm surprised NASA isn't on here. I love NASA, but they seem to draw criticism whenever this subject it brought up.

Dune_King: because as much as you personally don't think they're important, actual grownups who have to make important decisions do.

Don't like it? It's a democracy - convince a bunch of your pantywaist antisemite friends to vote for you and you can change the policies.

styopa,
No, not in the US. You cant just get people to vote for you. Thats not how you become president in the US. When you are one of 2 people who can become president, then they vote. Kind of lame, but hey, at least their vote counts, right? Right? Maybe not....

(remember your votes counted when bush got elected? if it happened once it probably has happened before.....)

RE: War, the only people who think war is important are the people that profit from it and the people that are brainwashed beyond hope. Everyone else says no. There is no need for war. Ever. You cannot justify killing people.

NASA does not get heavy funding compared to other shit we spend money on. On War alone we have spent over a trillion dollars.

styopa,
Imagine there was a law that forces the leaders to be at the frontline of battle of wars they start. I'm sure then they would find ways other than war to solve things instead of sending young men to their deaths.
