heard about no 12 before, so i check it in a number of cars, and it's not always true.

Number 9 isn't very good, as if you can't see the cars sides on the inner part of the mirror, you won't be able to see properly to park or reverse.
It is also likely that you may miss any vehicle traveling close behind you. This was what my driving instructor told me anyway, and I've always found it effective.
A few other goodies in there though. Good post!
