#13 Aaaargh! This AGAIN. No. It has nothing to do with displacement. Submarines are boats and can be VAST. Here is the real difference between a ship and a boat:

A ship has more than one continuous deck (bow to stern) above the waterline. So a submarine that has only one deck above the waterline and then the conning tower that is not continuous is a boat. A cruise liner with several decks stacked on top of each other is a ship. Viking Longships? Boats.

It isn't THAT complicated. Sheesh
