Well ... almost right, but Humuhumu means "sewed together", nukunuku means "snout", and a puaa means "of a pig." So all together it means "patchwork or quilt with a snout like a pig."
Waikiki used to be a swamp, and sand has been added to the beach, but there was always sand there ... it's just been "added to."
