What they do in Yemen, Somalia and Afghanistan is not Islamic practice. Falls under local traditional practice which are mistaken by the locals as "Islamic". If you look closely at these countries, you will find that the literacy rates are very low (that is even religious knowledge, which is just handed down by confused local elders).
