Ex-con describes the life in an American prison. It's a very tough place.

I don't get it. If prison is so awful, how come there are so many repeat offenders? Do they simply not learn from the experience or maybe they think that it wasn't so bad? It puzzles me.

:02: biggest deterrent of crime is uninvited man love and salad tossing.
i think man love should be handed out in court bypass jail time...since tax payer has to pay for this holiday, thus you slash prison population.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Stop the war on drugs, and this madness ends. 80% of all US prisoners are in my eyes wrongfully incarcerated.
Your prison system is bordering on human rights violations.

So basically, the government is paying money to have gay parties taking place all the time in the controlled environment where everything is provided for the criminal except his freedom, although he gets to walk around the coutryard. A prison should be a solitary, no baths, no tv, nothing, no society, only a teacher and a psychologist. Each individual case worked on specifically without outer interaction from anyone. These people have strayed and need rehabilitation, not gay parties.
