Was this in the Everglades? I understand that pythons have become a problem there since they are not naturally occuring there, thus no natural enemies.

If this was in the everglades (which it probably was) then that crocodile would also have been a problem, since there are no crocodiles in the everglades. Alligators yes, crocodiles no.
However, since there is no pic of the alligator/crocodiles head, it is pretty hard to tell them apart.
