But they can't predict a blizzard weeks in advance- and this current "polar vortex" has brought on wind chills in excess of -50 degrees. People usually buy the stores out even if it just says "chance of flurries", so these pics of empty shelves are anything but unexpected. Bread, water, milk, meat- that's the stuff that ALWAYS goes first. And nobody wants a cold friggin' salad when it's sub-zero temperatures outside...

this always amazes me... even in the worst conditions I could probably find enough food to eat for a week or so, even if it's just rice. why would anyone want to deal with the herd of cows in the stores right before a snow storm.
